Careers at the maple

Food Production Cook

At The Maple we have exciting plans to bring the Food To Go and Maple Kitchen departments in our neighbouring TOUT’S Store in Cleeve, under ownership of our restaurant. This means we will be able to provide our customers with a restaurant-quality level of food, focusing on our key elements of being fresh-led, seasonal and using local suppliers wherever possible. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Food Production Cook to join our team at The Maple in a fast-paced kitchen environment, where you will have the opportunity to work in our separate prep kitchen, whilst also having time with our excellent chefs and team in the restaurant kitchen. As a key member of our daily operations, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food safety and quality, whilst maximising sales, minimising waste and delighting our customers.

Job Summary

This part-time, 30-hour permanent contract role requires flexibility to work across all of our opening hours, although predominantly will involve early morning starts. The successful candidate will have an agreed and fair shift pattern set with the opportunity to discuss working hours and shift patterns in further detail at the interview.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards of food safety and quality, adhering to HACCP, food safety, and Natasha’s Law regulations in your area of responsibility.
  • Prepare, cook, and serve both hot and cold meals, as well as baked goods.
  • Perform daily and deep cleaning of deli areas, equipment, and kitchen facilities.
  • Ensure accurate stock replenishment to maintain optimal levels, reducing waste and maximising sales and profit.
  • Maintain high standards of display and visual merchandising to ensure the store is well-presented.
  • Be able to balance the need for available products and sales with our waste targets.
  • Collaborate with the team to create fresh food to go offerings for customers, contributing ideas to drive the success of The Maple Kitchen.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has at least one year’s recent experience in a restaurant, cafe, deli, food to go, or hot counter environment.
  • Good working knowledge of food safety practices, including HACCP, Scores on the Doors, and Natasha’s Law.
  • Positive attitude, creativity, and passion for food.
  • Flexibility towards working hours.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • There would also be the opportunity for personal development and future promotions as a chef, for the right candidates.
