Commis Chef

Job Summary:

Are you a passionate and driven Commis Chef who loves to cook? Do you want to expand your skillset whilst working alongside our talented culinary team? If so, we want you to join The Maple!

You will be responsible for supporting the general running of the kitchen. You will also be responsible for preparing food and prepping ingredients. This is a permanent position, with the job hours being 40 – 45 (although part time hours will also be considered). The pay rate for this position is up to £13 per hour plus tips.

At The Maple we are passionate about local and the food we serve. The Maple is a cosy restaurant in Cleeve that celebrates local food and flavours. We serve classic dishes with an exciting Maple twist, using fresh ingredients and beverages sourced from local businesses. We are eager to welcome more skilled Chef’s to our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Awareness of all menu items, methods of production and presentation standards.
  • Preparing food and prepping ingredients; including measuring, peeling, chopping and mixing ingredients. Following recipes and instructions closely.
  • Supporting the general running of the kitchen and establishing a strong relationship with both the Chef de Partie and Head Chef.
  • Perform basic cleaning duties. Including keeping the kitchen clean and tidy, sanitation of workstations and washing dishes and utensils, whilst following food hygiene and safety regulations.
  • Maintain effective communication and cooperation with Front of House team members to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience as a successful Apprentice Chef or Commis Chef.
  • A passion for food, combined with creativity and an eye for detail.
  • An understanding of food health and safety standards.
  • Thrive in a team environment.
  • Outstanding time management and multitasking skills.
  • Work effectively under pressure.
  • Enthusiastic and willingness to learn from other members of the team.
  • Relevant culinary qualifications are not required but are preferred.

Pay – £13 per hour

Hours – 40 – 45
